Policy Statements
1. Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences provides library, computer facilities, and educational courses to the public who do not study in the university or are not affiliated to the university upon their request and according to the law and regulations.
2. Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, marital status, or military status, in providing access to its digital and print library resources.
3. Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences in collaboration with other universities, governmental and non-governmental organizations monitors the rate of female graduates in different academic courses and programs and encourages female applicants to enroll and study in courses with lower rate of female graduates.
4. Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences is committed to an academic and work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Each individual has the right to study and work in a professional atmosphere that promotes equal academic and professional opportunities and prohibits unlawful discriminatory practices, including harassment. Therefore, Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences expects that all relationships among persons will be free of explicit bias, prejudice and harassment against people based on their race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, and marital status.
5. Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences prohibits any forms of smoking in all its indoor and outdoor premises.
6. Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences accepts candidates regardless of their gender in all educational programs providing by the university. Midwifery and Gynecology are only open to female candidates.
7. Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences is committed to provide dormitory facilities to all female students.
8. Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences is committed to support women by providing maternity leave for six to nine months with full payment of salary and medical insurance.
9. Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences has a legal department and surveillance system to address any forms of discrimination in the processes of recruitment as well educational admission.
10. Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences has attempted to recruit medical education professionals to achieve general medicine curriculum goals and enhance educational programs management. Medical education experts participate in all educational councils and committees of the medical school and teaching hospitals. They officially work in EDC departments, either.
The following attempts have been done to achieve the abovementioned goals:
1. Inviting medical education professionals to educational councils and committees

3. Holding workshops on teaching methodology, assessment, professionalism, and education management for the purpose of empowering faculty members
4. Empowering faculty members for international education and research programs as well as obtaining national and international ranks
5. Exam assessment and curriculum development
6. Planning talented students empowering programs for scientific Olympiads
7. Designing and conducting applied research to tackle educational challenges
8. Teaching medical education in post-graduate level and short courses
9. Encouraging young faculty members to study / take medical education courses
10. Collaborating with Virtual University of Medical Sciences
11. Collaborating with other universities of medical sciences in promoting medical education
12. Collaborating with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education
